Pixeljam’s vector art game Utopia Must Fall combines elements of arcade shooters, roguelites, and tower defense games. We love its frenetic pace and retro vibes that pay homage to classic arcade games ranging including Tempest, Missile Command, and Galaga. Available for Mac and PC on Steam Early Access.

This new video game brings the world of Terminator 2 to life as a pixel-perfect 2D side-scroller. Players take on the roles of Sarah Connor and the T-800 on a mission to stop Skynet before it can activate. The game is packed with iconic moments from the classic sci-fi/action flick and is coming to PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC on 9.5.2025.

RoseColoredGaming sells these precision-cut wood veneers to give game consoles a fresh and living room-friendly look. They’re made from real wood including mahogany, walnut, and padauk and stick on with an adhesive backing. New Wave Toys is known for its amazing miniature replicas of arcade machines. They teamed up with author Robert David Swan to create a special hardcover edition of Insert Coin: A Visual Guide to the Golden Age of Arcade Videogames. The book is packed with detailed images, promo art, and screenshots of classic arcade games from 1978 to 1986.

In one of the stranger product tie-ins, Atari teamed up with Sauce Shed to create a series of hot sauces inspired by classic video games. Atari Sauces feature box art, labels, and flavor combos based on Atari 2600 games including Adventure, Breakout, Crystal Castles, Yars’ Revenge, and more. We like their tagline: “Use it with joy, stick it on everything.”

This upcoming game from Baiyon, the director of PixelJunk Eden is noteworthy for its artful pointillist 3D graphics. Dreams of Another is a third-person shooter with a twist. Instead of shooting to destroy, firing ammunition creates a new universe for you to explore. Coming to PS5 and PS VR2 later in 2025.

Kinetic art studio Breakfast created this series exploring the origins of video gaming and the multi-billion-dollar industry it has evolved into. Billion Dollar Arcade uses an array of mechanical dots to play Pong, Breakout, and Space Invaders, along with real-time stock market data tracking the industry’s valuation. For sale in a limited edition of eight each.

Before the Will Smith movie of the same name, I, Robot was an Isaac Asimov book and a 1984 Atari arcade game. Created by Jeff Minter, the original game offered an early example of 3D graphics. Minter and Atari have reteamed to create a new version of the game, packed with waves of enemies cruising on grids and loads of trippy graphics. Wish list it here.

This geeky tabletop clock from Etsy seller PitStop3D tells time using Tetris blocks. As the minutes and hours change, colorful blocks fall into place to form the digits. Its LED dot-matrix display sits beneath a smoked acrylic cover, while its 3D-printed case is available in black, white, or the faux woodgrain shown here. Measures 10.5″ x 5.5″ x 1.75″.

This tabletop clock makes a great gift for arcade game fans. The 3D-printed clock features a case inspired by classic arcade cabinets, complete with a tiny joystick and buttons. The minds behind Arcade1Up are working an 80%-size pinball machine priced under $1000. Developed by Wonderland Amusements, the Alice in Wonderland-themed table will have ramps, slingshots, bumpers, flippers, and an animated color scoreboard. Balatro is one of the best and most addictive games of the year. Developer LocalThunk teamed up with Fangamer and artist Tony Kuchar to produce an IRL deck of playing cards based on the ones in the game. Each card has pixelated graphics on the front and back, and the deck includes four of the game’s jokers. Now we need a set with all 150 jokers.

My Arcade’s Atari Gamestation Go has a 7″ screen and packs a paddle, trackball, D-pad, shoulder buttons, and a numpad. It has 200 games from the Atari 2600, 5200, 7200, arcade, and more. Starting with the first level of the first game, the original Sonic the Hedgehog games had some of the best video game music ever. Jer from the Ska Tune Network performed this spirited remake of the already lively Green Hill Zone theme that will have you spin-dashing around the place and searching for golden rings.
